When neither team could score in extra time, the game went into penalty shootout.

But in dying seconds of 902th minute, Steven Gerrard produced a thunderous shot to equalize 3-3 and sending the game into penalty shootout.

A week after the 1st leg in Germany ended in draw, Liverpool FC and Borussia Dortmund met at Anfield in the 2nd leg of the Europa League quarter finals.
With 2 goals in the first half and a strike by Marco Reus in the 57th minute, Borussia was leading 3-1.
But a strike from Phillippe Coutinho in the 66th minute followed by a header from Mamadou Sakho in the 78th minute poised the game at 3-3.
In the injury time (91st minute), James Milner lobed a volley in front of Dortmund goal which was headed home by Dejan Lovren to give Liverpool FC a 4-3 win.
